I’ve always loved the phrase “Once upon a time…”
But I used to think it only lived in the past.
In fairy tales. Childhood. Stories long finished.
Then I noticed how often people – and myself –
would wait for something to begin.
Wait for the “right time,” the “right self,” the next chapter.
This fragment came out of that noticing.
It’s not that the story hasn’t started.
It’s that we haven’t noticed we’re in it.
You don’t need a prologue.
This is it.
The moment.
The myth, unfolding.
